Violet Shampoo

I had never heard of Alcove when I ordered this violet shampoo, but some quick Internet sleuthing reassured me that they are a legitimate company with a good reputation. The product is packaged in an opaque white bottle, with a push-pull cone nozzle. It has a very thin consistency, doesn't lather a lot, and doesn't really look or feel like shampoo. It is more reminiscent of a toner, and this is a product that's primarily used for toning, so that's fine. It should be applied with gloves, otherwise it will stain your skin. Alcove's "violet" shade is quite cool and blue, much closer to indigo or cobalt than purple. It is highly pigmented, and long-lasting. I use this stuff for cancelling out yellow tones in wigs and hair extensions. The usual candidate would be human hair which started out dark, but has been bleached to a level 10 or higher. Washing color-treated blonde hair in violet shampoo will make it look lighter and more silvery, bringing it from golden yellow, to ashy platinum. People with gray hair may also use a product like this, to brighten and remove brassiness. Alcove describes their shampoo as smelling like sandalwood and jasmine. I can't detect either one, but the scent, whatever it may be, is not unpleasant or overpowering. I wish this product was a bit more purple and less blue, but it works as intended, and a small amount goes a long way. One bottle contains 300ml, or about 10 oz of product, which should last me for over a year.

I use violet/purple shampoo regularly on my blonde hair and this is my first time trying this brand. The bottle arrived well packaged and without leaks or damage. It is 10fl oz in size. The shampoo is dispensed via a nozzle. It is a very vibrant bluish purple color and lathers well. I did not wear gloves applying (and also have light nail polish on) and there was no staining. My hair looked healthy afterwards and I definitely noticed a difference with regard to lessing of warm/brassy tones. Most importantly, my hair was not dry; it was well hydrated (without feeling oily or weighed down). Very nice. 5 stars.

The bottle seems prone to leaking, had some dried up product and stains all over even prior to first use. The color is also more blue, I expected a purple, but it worked to tone silver hair like I wanted it to. The scent is nice, not too strong like the usual synthetic floral smell but still pretty. Did not leave hair dry.

VIOLET SHAMPOO 300ML/10OZThis shampoo is interesting and works okay/average. I was surprised to find the purple/violet suds when I began to lather my hair. I'm not sure why it has the purple color but I was a bit worried it was going to turn my hair purple. It didn't, it rinsed out well although I did have to rinse my shower well to prevent possible staining. One thing I like to note is how well a shampoo lathers up. This one I would estimate to lather up slightly below average. I found I need to use a bit more than I typically would in a shampoo. The consistency of the shampoo is on the watery side. The scent is also just okay, nothing I would write home about though. The price/value is too high in my opinion for what you get.

This is a wonderful purple shampoo. I have color treated hair with balayage/baby lights highlights that will often turn orange or brassy because of a combination of oxidation from the sun, hot tools, and showering. Purple shampoo will hold me till my next hair appt in 4-6 months. You'll see in my photos that before the treatment there was a little more orange in my hair but after treatment (about 1-3 mins leave in hair and rinse) that the orange has been toned down. The shampoo has a very soft pleasant odor, but can stain your nails like crazy (to be expected!). The application is easy. After just one wash, I am toned down. Great product this is!

Quality shampoo intended for chemically treated hair that needs a refresh of color. I don't currently have colored hair, but will use this once I do. The fragrance is pleasant and very mild. The color is dark and vibrant, yet when I left some on my skin (index finger) for a couple minutes it washed away with only minor rubbing, though under close examination I could still see traces of a stain. Minor scrubbing took care of that. When I do use it in my hair, I plan to try to minimize contact with my face and visible skin, so only my hair picks up the intended tint. Same goes for clothing and towels that may come in contact with this. I definitely recommend for those with colored hair looking to touch it up with more color.

I really like this shampoo, from the smell to the bottle design. The small spout helps to use small amounts because a little bit goes a long way, which makes this a great value even at a salon price point.Now, it is very dark blue, going indigo and not as violet as the name may indicate. I know some people are particular about blue vs purple shampoo for color treated hair.

So far so good! Smells nice, don’t see a big difference on making hair lighter but maintaining the hair from turning worse.

This purple shampoo makes my hair feel very soft and hydrated, unlike other purple shampoos I have used in the past and it smells great too!
